I was thinking about buying some type of protection for my brand new laptop because someone advised me to. Well I was looking online and came across a couple of programs that can track a stolen laptop via GPS & also the laptop must be connected to the internet. But what if a laptop is turned off or not connected to the internet then is there a way to track it down??? If a thief grabs a laptop and runs with it while its connected to a wireless router, its just gonna disconnect from the router and internet once it gets too far away from that router so how do they track it???

would like to saving more than one XBox 360 Wireless profiles or location?
Can the XBox 360 save more thatn one wireless connection profile so that if I change to another location that I do not have keep re-typing the password into my XBox. I would like for it to save many locations (like a laptop)
Where can I buy hardware that will turn my laptop into a chart plotter? I am aware there are numerous chart plotting programs, I am interested in the GPS receiver (must be wireless) and a card that will plug into the laptop…or is a built in wireless card enough?
For example, if I have a laptop with wireless accesss and it identifies some wireless networks (which I cannot find on a wifi website as access points), how can I find out the exact location of these access points in regard to my locaiton – distance to my laptop or direction ?
I am trying also to find out if there are any products (software or hardware) that can detect the area for which the wireless access point is valid) .
I would be grateful if somebody could help me, please.
Thank you.

We want to mount a wireless speaker (mono okay) on a shoulder strap to receive voice commands from a GPS program on a laptop. We have found a miniature pair of amplified stereo speakers (1"x1"x2.5") intended to plug into an iPod like device and are temporarily using them with a cable. Would like a speaker only (no mike needed) Bluetooth or Bluetooth with audio jack. Goal is to make enough volume to hear GPS over traffic while walking but not so heavy as to drag off shoulder. Earphones are NOT an option – blind person must hear environmental audio cues.
I trudged back and forth through Fry’s on the advice of several departments that demonstrated a complete lack of small speakers and of how Bluetooth functions. Radio Shack is better for small speakers and no trudging.
Person has no glasses and I don’t want to engineer (and build) a solution – I want a little box.

My friend and I do some DJ’ing so we got a wireless broadband internet card for his laptop so we can download requests if need be. It works fine. His laptop is pretty nice, runs on Win XP, plenty RAM, Disk Space, quick processor and so forth. Here is my Question: Is there a program he can download that will enable it to work as GPS Navigation for when we are on roadtrips??? I mean, its no biggie if it cant because we can always just use yahoo maps or mapquest or whatever, but a computer is a very powerful thing and I told him "I’m sure there’s some way to do it!" but then I didnt really know where to look. So I’m posting this question, then I’m going to go look while yall answer it. That way maybe someone will mention something i hadn’t found.
GO!
